UniComm Consulting Team Don Van Doren

Don Van Doren brings 25 years of experience as the founder and president of Vanguard Communications, a leading independent consulting firm in call center, contact center, and interactive voice response technologies and solutions. Don and Vanguard are known throughout the communications industry for consistently high quality engagements and for ongoing contributions to industry development through speaking engagements, news articles and publication of books, white papers and other reference materials. Don is one of four co-founders of UCStrategies.com. Don sees Unified Communications as an area that will build on the learning and experience of the contact center industry. Though UC solutions will touch many other business processes than those served by contact centers, the principles of integrating communications into the business processes are consistent between contact centers and UC. Just as contact centers enriched customer service and lowered cost by managing and informing the communications events with business process information though both customer self-service and personalized agent interactions, UC will accelerate and enhance the many other business processes by linking information and software assistance into the communications for those processes and the related employee jobs.

Marty Parker

Marty Parker brings over three decades of experience in both computing solutions and communications technology to UniComm. Marty has been a leader in strategic planning and product line management for IBM, AT&T, Lucent and Avaya, and was CEO and founder of software-oriented firms in the early days of the voice mail industry. Always at the leading edge of new technology adoption, Marty moved into Unified Communications in 1999 with the sponsorship of Lucent Technologies’ innovative iCosm unified communications product and the IPEX VoIP software solution. From those prototypes, Marty led the development and launch in 2001 of the Avaya Unified Communications Center product, a speech, web and wireless suite that garnered top billing in the first Gartner UC Magic Quadrant. Marty became an independent consultant in 2005, forming Communication Perspectives. Marty is one of four co-founders of UCStrategies.com. Marty sees Unified Communications as transforming the highly manual, unmeasured, and relatively unpredictable world of telephony and e-mail into a software-assisted, coordinated, simplified, predictable process that will deliver high-value benefits to customers, to employees and to the enterprises that serve and employ them. With even moderate attention to implementation and change management, UC can deliver the cost-saving and process-accelerating changes that deliver real, compelling, hard-dollar ROI. Tony Davies Tony Davies has been involved with Business Communications systems since 1987. He is the founder of UniComm Consulting’s European operation based in the UK. Previously, Tony was Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Avaya’s eCRM business for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and led the expansion of the division into Unified Communications in 2003. He then established Avaya’s Centre of Excellence for Unified Communications in EMEA which he led until 2008. Before Avaya, Tony joined ViewStar, the Business Process Automation software company in 1994 and established the company’s first European office before acquisition by Mosaix and then Lucent in 1998. Tony is a Chartered Engineer and has a Masters degree (M.Eng.) in Systems Engineering. He has had experience of working with a number of global leaders including Ford Motor Company, IBM, Lucent, and Avaya.
